Graduate Studies in Bio-medical Imaging Physics

Imaging Research Group at the Department of Physics, University of Colombo, is seeking an MPhill student to work on a National Research Council funded project on Ultrasound imaging of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The research will involve development of ultrasound probe for detection of kidney fibrosis, quantification of ultrasound texture associated with CKD, and computer modeling of wave-tissue interactions. The ideal candidate should have a BSc degree in Physics (Special), Engineering or related field and strong skills in electronics and/or image processing and/or MATLAB programming.

Research and development in Bio-medical imaging is highly multi-disciplinary and the student will have the opportunity to interact with clinicians and physicists in the process and acquire new skills. Student will receive a stipend of LKR 40,000 per month for two years. Additional funding will be sought for work extending beyond the first two years.
