This program has been especially designed to enhance and update the knowledge in contemporary Physics to those who are already teaching Physics or for those individuals who intend to take a rewarding career path in Physics teaching. The program will put special emphasis on the development of skills in effective and interactive teaching methods of Physics with the aid of modern teaching techniques and multimedia. Furthermore, comprehensive laboratory practical sessions in General Physics and Electronics will help develop skills in practical designing and management able to enhance student conceptual understanding in Physics. Lectures and practical classes will be held on Saturdays and the minimum duration of the program is 18 months.
Eligibility and Admission Criteria
A Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) from a recognized university with Physics as a subject or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to the Senate of the University of Colombo. The candidates will be selected based on an interview and/or examination
The course structure has been designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of Physics with a special emphasis on electronics. Also course units covering Science Education and Psychology have also been included. Most importantly, the mode of delivery of most courses will encourage student centered activity based learning. The program course structure went through a recent revision and the major revision was to make the program a masters program with course work which will expedite completion of the program to well within 2 year. Also additional course content has been added to broaden the knowledge in Physics and aspects of Science Education.

Upon successful completion of both Part I and Part II of the program will lead to the awarding of a M.Sc. Degree in Physics Education while for those who wish to exit the program early have the option of obtaining either a Postgraduate Certificate (by completing 20 credits from Part I) or a Postgraduate Diploma (by completing Part I).
The total course fee can be paid in 2 interest free installments Rs. 100,000 (during registration), Rs. 70,000
