M.Sc. in Environmental Science
The M.Sc. in Environmental Science offered by the Department of Zoology and Environment Sciences, University of Colombo, is a two year postgraduate degree (SLQE Level 10) program comprising of both e-learning and conventional mode of delivery courses.
Commencing in May 2017
- is designed to cater to a wide range of interested persons such as biologists, chemists, mathematicians, economists, engineers, geographers and sociologists, among others.
- takes on a multidisciplinary approach and hence will give students a wide range of a basic and applied knowledge and skills, enabling them to adopt a holistic approach to environmental problem solving.
- will increase employment opportunities in a wide range of fields.
- provides many modules on-line, allowing students to study at their own pace and during non-working hours.
COURSE FEE: Total of Rs. 175, 000 payable in two installments. In addition, the students will have to pay the registration fees (Rs. 2,500), library fees (Rs.1, 500) and examination fees (Rs.10, 500).
An application fee of Rs 500/= must be paid to the People’s Bank Account of the University of Colombo at Thimbirigasyaya Branch, with the application fee code 314041600007.

Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change and Environmental Management
Applications are invited for the Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change and Environmental Management offered by the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science, of University of Colombo, to be commenced in June 2017.
Duration: 12 months
Course composition: Lectures and laboratory sessions conducted on weekends (on Saturdays and some Sundays). The overall course aims at strengthening the capacity of those already working in the field of climate change (CC) and those hoping to move into this fast-developing field. The course will provide the participants an opportunity for interactive learning on the causes, impacts, and strategies to deal with human-induced climate change through environmental management
Course fee: Rs. 90,000/=
Eligibility: B.Sc. degree in any of the following fields: Biological Sciences, Forestry & Environmental Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Physical Sciences, or any other relevant field, obtained from a recognized university OR Equivalent qualification/s acceptable to the senate of the University of Colombo.

M.Phil and PhD degrees
The Department provides the opportunity for qualified individuals with a recognized undergraduate degree to undertake graduate studies leading to both M.Phil. and PhD degrees, under the supervision of its staff members.
