Qualified candidates are requested to tender their applications for the above open awards to the Senior Assistant Registrar / Faculty of Science on or before 22.10.2021 to the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Science with documentary proof of his/her eligibility. 1. D.P.P. Samarasekara Peace Prize for 2015/2016 intake of students (Special Degree) & (Four Year General Degree) 2016/2017 intake of students (General Degree)
Applications are invited from those who graduated from this University for consideration for this award.
The applicant should have:
Shown a marked interest either within the University community or outside in activities which foster social harmony and / or Shown courtesy, consideration, kindness, understanding and assisting those in distress.
2. STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD for 2015/2016 intake of students (Special Degree) & (Four Year General Degree) 2016/2017 intake of students (General Degree)
Applications are invited from those who graduated from this University for consideration for this award.
Consideration will be given to the following when selections are made.
- Excellence in academic studies
- Sportsmanship
- Interest in aesthetic and cultural activities
- Proven leadership among his/her peers
- Exemplary conduct and character
3. CANEKERATNE PRIZE FOR GENERAL MERIT for 2015/2016 intake of Special Degree students
Applications are invited from those who have obtained a First or Second Upper Division in a Special Degree from this University, and also has considerable achievements in extra curricular activities, for consideration for the award of the above prize.
Extra curricular activities will include Captaincy or Colours in a University “A” team, achievements in Debating, Oratory, Producer of a Play for a recognized Society of the University or playing a leading role in a Play, winner of Gold/Silver/Bronze Medal in University cultural or similar activities.
The applicant should be very good in his/her academic work and attendance and excellent in conduct throughout the entire period spent in the University.
4. Prof. Tilak Hettiarachchy Award for Academic Excellence for 2015/2016 intake of students (Special Degree) & (Four Year General Degree) 2016/2017 intake of students (General degree)
Applications are invited from those who have obtained a First Class in Special Degree & Four Year General Degree or General Degree from this University, for consideration for the award.
Further consideration shall be given to publications & research carried out during the undergraduate career; Prizes & Medals won; Scholarships / Studentships obtained at the Year 1 Examination; any other endowed Scholarships / Bursaries including Commonwealth elective bursary obtained for academic performances during the undergraduate career etc.
