Achieving this increase in food production is extremely challenging and in the prevailing conditions, usage of inputs such as inorganic fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides etc. has become inevitable. However, use of these inorganic inputs lead to major negative implications in economies of countries, environment and the health of people and animals. Hence, ensuring food security and sustainable agricultural systems that minimize harmful effects and health hazards is extremely important. Emerging new technologies in IT will enable new applications to make farming more efficient and attractive. Precision agriculture will manage farms using smart IT to ensure crops and soil achieve optimum health and productivity. Smart IT solutions using the technologies such as artificial Intelligence, IoTs, sensors, and drones can be used in data analytics to automate irrigation and fertilizer schedules and enhance the efficiency of food growing practices.
