Inauguration Ceremony of MSc / Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change and Environmental Management

The Department of Zoology and Environment Sciences of the University of Colombo held a Virtual Inauguration Ceremony for the newly enrolled students of the MSc / Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change and Environmental Management 2021 intake, on the 25th of September 2021 in attendance were Prof. Chandrika Wijeratne, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Prof. Upul Sonnadara, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Preethi Udagama, the Head of the Department of Zoology and Environment Sciences, Prof. Erandathie Lokupitiya, the programme coordinator, Dr. Himali Ratnayake, assistant programme coordinator, other staff members, and visiting lecturers.

Ms. Apsara Amarasinghe, an alumna of the programme and currently a PhD candidate at the University of New England, Australia, also spoke a few words about her experiences and opportunities gained through the programme.

This has been the very first postgraduate programme related to climate change in Sri Lanka and the current batch of students belongs to the first intake after upgrading the programme from PG Diploma to MSc level.
