Students’ Association for Industrial and Financial Analysis
The students’ association for industrial and financial analysis was established in 2013. This is a society formed by the undergraduates who are following the degree Industrial Statistics & Mathematical Finance.
The main objectives of SAIFA are to promote the industrial statistics and mathematical finance degree program among the industry, create a unity between the undergraduates, to establish an industrial link, and to build up University of Colombo, Faculty of Science’s undergraduates according to the requirements of this modern corporate world and to be different from others with the high-quality science educational background which is attained from the prominent Science Faculty in Sri Lanka.
The association is conducting several projects to fulfil these objectives.
Inter-School Quiz Competition
Objective of the quiz competition is to create an interest among the school community about statistics and mathematics, and to promote the Industrial Statistics & Mathematical Finance Degree among the A/L students. Here the participating schools will be given a quiz and the Top Scorers will be selected for the final round. Around 20 schools will be competing for this event.
SAIFA Business Challenge
SAIFA business challenge is open for undergraduates in any field of study where all the participants will be given a case study to be analysed. The teams that comes up with the best solutions will be selected for the final round.
SAIFA Day & Get together
SAIFA Day is the most important event for the members of SAIFA and the undergraduates of Industrial Statistics & Mathematical Finance stream. Final rounds of the inter school quiz competition and the SAIFA business challenge will be concluded on the SAIFA day. Past members of SAIFA will be joining with us on the day of the get together to share their industrial experiences.
SAIFA Panel Discussion
SAIFA Panel discussion aims to improve the employability of the undergraduates of the Faculty of Science. Former students of the Industrial Statistics & Mathematical Finance stream who are now in the industry and other industry experts will be joining with current undergraduates to share their past experiences and will guide the participants with regarding job opportunities and paths in the industry.

This was initiated as the main fund-raising project of SAIFA for the academic year 2018. This was renowned as the biggest musical extravaganza held at university premises
SAIFA Christmas
SAIFA celebrated Christmas successfully with the aid of SAIFA members. The intention of the project was to gather the members. We were successful in conducting a fun filled event and were successful in raising a considerable amount of profit for the society.
