Inauguration of 9th Intake of the External Degree Program

The Inauguration Ceremony of 9 th intake of the External Degree Program of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo was held on the 15th January 2023 at the New Art Theatre (NAT), University of Colombo. The inauguration was organized be the Open Distance Learning Centre in collaboration with Cyber Campus, University of Colombo.

Around 400 students were enrolled for the four degree programs of BSc in Financial Engineering, BSc in Electronic and Automation Technology, BSc in Environment, Development and Sustainability and BSc in Biotechnology and Microbiology.

The welcome speech was delivered by Professor Sanjeewa Perera, Director, Open Distance Learning Centre. Subsequently the audience was addressed by Senior Professor Upul Sonnadara, Dean, Faculty of Science, Professor, IMK Fernando, Director, “Cyber Campus”, and Senior Professor (Chair) HD Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo. Ms. Gayathri Samarathunga, from Alumni, delivered the inspiring speech with her past experience as a student of first intake of BSc in Financial Engineering.

The Prospectus of External Degree Program, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo was launched online by the Senior Professor (Chair) HD Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo.

The event was well attended by the Program Coordinators, Academic Staff, Administrative staff and Non-Academic staff of the Faculty of Science and Cyber Campus and representatives from the industry.
