The Oceanophiles’ Zone of Marine Education, Awareness and Nature Services, acronymized as OZEANS, is a community of undergraduates of the Faculty of Science with a shared interest and love for protecting the life and the resources of the oceans. We believe that actions can create ripple effects, amplifying the waves of change that would usher in a safe and secure future for the oceans and the abundance of life they hold.
Founded in 2021 and established in 2023 with a noble vision of inspiring young enthusiasts for marine research and conservation, OZEANS strives to achieve its mission of establishing and enhancing impactful marine science research by producing next-generation scientists and facilitating the flow of scientific knowledge to the general public, while emphasizing the conservation and sustainable utilization of marine resources of the island.
In addition to achieving its mission of marine conservation and dissemination of knowledge, we work towards building an inclusive and collective atmosphere that promotes the interest of students in Marine Sciences while providing exposure to marine research through collaborations with external parties.
Through the provision of a platform for undergraduates to engage in impactful projects with far-reaching potential to protect the marine resources of the island, we hope to cultivate and augment the competencies related to scientific exploration, understanding and learning among its members and to enhance their characters and personalities.
