Offered by the Department of Chemistry
BSc Honours degree in computational chemistry expects to enhance the knowledge and skills of students towards careers in academic and research. The degree is awarded upon completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours in related subjects. During the first two years students are provided with fundamental chemistry concepts and necessary practical skills with basic computational techniques. Next two years, advanced concepts were introduced. Final (fourth) academic year, students have the opportunity conduct a research project under the supervision of an academic member, to gain experience and exposure in various aspects of computational techniques to understand chemical phenomena in atomic and molecular level. This experience of the research and the knowledge gain from relevant course units would build a solid foundation for their future careers.
Degree Aims
- To provide a solid foundation of the concepts in chemistry.
- To apply the knowledge gained and skills developed in the field of chemistry and computational chemistry in interdisciplinary way.
- To be an effective communicator and collaborative individual who would contribute to the development of the discipline and society at large.
- To develop a responsible global citizen with a high degree of integrity and empathy
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this program, a student must obtain a GPA of 3.00 or higher for the core courses in Chemistry taken within the first two years and at least a C grade for AM 1108 for those who do not offer AM core courses in the first two years.
