Accountability and Grievance Redress Protocol

The Faculty of Science (FoS) at the University of Colombo adheres to the University’s established policy on disciplinary procedures and grievance redressal, ensuring fairness, transparency, and confidentiality for all staff and students. 

In alignment with these guidelines, the FoS has established a dedicated Grievance Committee to address complaints in a structured manner. The process begins with the complainant submitting a written grievance, along with any supporting evidence, to the Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR). 

Upon receipt, the SAR forwards the documentation to the Grievance Committee. The Committee then convenes to hear representations from the complainant and the concerned parties, ensuring that all perspectives are considered before providing confidential recommendations for resolution. 

The composition of the Committee includes Prof. Sampath Punchihewa – Dean, Faculty of Law (Chair, Grievance Committee), Prof. M.P.P. Dharmadasa – Professor, Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management & Finance, Director, QA Cell, Faculty of Science, One Senior Academic from outside the faculty within the University of Colombo, One Senior Academic from the Faculty of Science, Senior Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Science (Convener), thereby ensuring a balanced and experienced panel for fair adjudication.
