
On 31st July, a group of officials from the National Library and Documentation Services Board of Sri Lanka visited the Science Faculty Library at the University of Colombo to gain first-hand insights into the operation of an automated modern library. During the visit, they observed the automated circulation process, including the use of self-check machines, RFID technology, seamless book security, and efficient library management. They also explored how the library has strategically arranged its spaces to meet the changing needs of modern learners, featuring flexible learning zones and technology-enhanced facilities that promote an engaging and user-friendly environment. The visit provided valuable exposure to state-of-the-art library technologies and best practices that are transforming traditional libraries into innovative learning hubs.
