SciConnect: Where research meets friendship

The Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPGS) of the Faculty of Science organized a networking event for MPhil and PhD students, titled SciConnect, on 12th March 2026 at the SSC Building. Held from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm, the event brought together around 100 participants, including postgraduate students, their supervisors, and academic staff.

SciConnect aimed to create a platform for postgraduate research students to interact with and share their work in a relaxed and friendly environment. As postgraduate research is often conducted within individual departments and laboratories, the event provided a valuable opportunity for students from different disciplines to connect and gain awareness of the diverse research activities within the Faculty.

A key highlight of the programme was the poster presentations by current MPhil and PhD students. Participants had the opportunity to walk around the venue, engage with presenters, and learn about various research topics and findings. These interactions encouraged the exchange of ideas, questions, and perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of ongoing research across the Faculty.

Overall, SciConnect served as an effective platform for postgraduate students to present their research, engage with peers, and build stronger academic and social connections. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies hopes to continue organizing similar events to support the ongoing development and engagement of postgraduate students within the Faculty of Science.
