The Dean’s List Award Ceremony – 2024/2025

The Dean’s List Award Ceremony of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, marked another milestone in recognising academic excellence. Held on the 14th of August 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the event took place in the vibrant atmosphere of the auditorium in the Students Services Centre, Faculty of Science.

This year’s ceremony honoured 48 exceptional students including one general degree student, as their outstanding academic performances were celebrated by faculty members, guests, and proud families. The event commenced with a traditional pooja dance and the heartfelt welcome by Senior Professor Upul Sonnadara, Dean of the Faculty of Science, setting a tone of pride and achievement for the evening.

Mr. Sugeeshwara Gunarathne, Director General for Europe & North America, Ministry of foreign affairs of Sri Lanka, delivered the keynote address. Following the award presentation, which saw each of the 48 students recognised for their remarkable achievements. 

To commemorate the occasion, FOS Media captured official photographs of the awardees with faculty members. The event concluded with a lively fellowship session, complete with a colourful photo booth and musical performances, where students, staff, and guests created cherished memories to mark the evening’s success.
