Douglas Amarasekera Bursaries

For Level I Students

Applications are invited from Level I students for the award of the Douglas Amarasekera Bursaries under the following criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Following Pure Mathematics as a subject in the Faculty of Science.
  2. The family income divided by the number of dependent children and parents should not exceed Rs. 5,000/- per month.
  • Number of bursaries: Four (04)
  • Bursary amount: Rs. 1,000/- per month
  • Payment frequency: Quarterly

Conditions for Continuation of the Bursary

  1. The bursary will continue for all four years if the recipient follows an Honors Degree in Mathematics and maintains a minimum grade of 'C' for all Pure Mathematics courses.
  2. The bursary will be terminated at the end of the second year if the recipient does not follow an Honors Degree in Mathematics. A minimum grade of 'C' for all Pure Mathematics core courses is required during the first two years.
  3. If a recipient fails to obtain a minimum grade of 'C' for all Pure Mathematics courses, the bursary will be terminated from the second month following the release of the results.
  4. The bursary will be terminated immediately if the recipient is found guilty of violating the rules and regulations of the University.
Application Submission
Interested candidates are requested to submit their applications together with academic records and a Grama Niladari Certificate to the Department of Mathematics Office on or before 30 June 2026.
