Celebrating Five Years of the Non-Academic Staff Development Committee

The Non-Academic Staff Development Committee (NASDC), a subcommittee of the Faculty’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a meeting to celebrate its contributions and activities over the past five years on 10 June 2026 at the New Faculty Boardroom of the Faculty of Science. The event marked a significant milestone as the first faculty-wide gathering of non-academic staff since the establishment of the inaugural NASDC five years ago.

The meeting was graced by the presence of the Dean, Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR) Ms. Kajenthini Tharminth, Senior Assistant Bursar (SAB) Ms. Verangi Perera, Heads of Departments, IQAC Chairperson Prof. Deepthi Wickramasinghe, Prof. Sanjeewa Perera, Dr. Iroja Caldera, and Mr. Anjana Bandara. Their participation reflected the Faculty’s continued commitment to supporting staff development and fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

A key objective of the meeting was the appointment of a new committee. Following the election process, Ms. Anula Malporu was elected President, while Mr. Gayan Gomez was elected Vice President. In addition, representatives from various departments were appointed to the committee, ensuring broad representation and active participation from across the faculty.

The gathering also provided a valuable opportunity for non-academic staff members to reconnect, exchange ideas, and discuss future plans and initiatives. The appointment of the new committee marks the beginning of a renewed commitment to strengthening professional development, teamwork, and communication among the faculty’s non-academic staff.

The meeting concluded on a positive and enthusiastic note, with appreciation extended to all participants for their support, commitment, and valuable contributions. With the newly appointed committee in place, the NASDC looks forward to organizing a range of activities aimed at enhancing the skills, welfare, and professional development of non-academic staff members in the years ahead.
