Science is the basis of life. Rooting out from the basic sciences, there are a vast number of different fields that try to explain the mechanisms of the universe, predict the outcomes and answer the most important questions in our lives. It’s not about why we should learn science but when should we start learning science!
Science for life is a slogan competition designed to gather ideas from students all over the country explaining the importance of science in their own lives and in their own contexts. The competition is organized in conjugation with the centenary celebrations of the Faculty of Science which will be commemorated on the 21st of January, 2021.
Guidelines
- Competition is open to anyone who is interested in science and between the age of 14 – 25.
- The statement must be original.
- Statements must be clear, catchy and easy to understand.
- Statement should be concise (not more than 20 words).
- Entries should be in English
- One participant can submit any number of entries.
- The Statement must not contain any provocative, objectionable or inappropriate content.
- Participants will be notified about the approval/rejection by the selection committee by email/ phone prior to an announcement appearing on the University of Colombo website.
- Approved statement would be visible on the website.
- All entries must be submitted on or before 31st of June 2021.
- Submissions should be done online through, Online Form.

Selection
Selection of the top 100 entries will be made by a committee. The Selection committee will evaluate entries based on;
- Creativity – 40
- Relevance – 10
- Originality – 30
- Uniqueness – 20
