Awards and Prizes (for Mathematics) on the results of the Level 1 examinations in Science held in 2019
Applications are invited for the following scholarships. Application closing date is August 31, 2020. Please submit the duly filled application (given herewith) with required supporting documents by the deadline.
Prize/ Award: Mr. and Mrs. H.D.P. Gunawardhana Momorial Prize in Physics and Mathematics
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students entering from the North-Western province (Puttalam and Kurunegla) and obtaining highest marks in Physics and Mathematics taken together, provide such mark is above 60%
- If there is no student from N.W. province the prize may be awarded to any student who obtain the highest aggregate provided such mark is above 60%
Prize/ Award: Prof. J.E. Jayasuriya prize for Mathematics
Eligibility Criteria:
- Family income of the student divided by the number of dependent children and the parents, should not exceed Rs 1000 per month.
- Student should not be employed
- Fulfill the above conditions and highest aggregate in Pure and Applied Mathematics with minimum “B” grades.
- Minimum “C” grades in other subjects at First Year Exam in Science.
Prize/ Award: Kottegoda Gnanalankara Thero Scholarship for Mathematics
Eligibility Criteria:
- Family income of the student divided by the number of dependent children and the parents, should not exceed Rs 2000 per month.
- Should not be employed
- Should be from Southern or Western Province
- Highest aggregate in Pure and Applied Mathematics with minimum “B” grades.
- Minimum “C” grades in other subjects at First Year Exam in Science.
Prize/ Award: Douglas Amarsekara Bursaries
Eligibility Criteria:
- Family income of the student divided by the number of dependent children and the parents, should not exceed Rs 2000 per month.
- Doing Pure Mathematics as a subject.
