External Degree Convocation Ceremony and Award Ceremony of year 2023

The University of Colombo, Centre for Open and Distance Learning, conducted its seventh External Degree Convocation and Award Ceremony for the year 2023 at the New Arts Theater, University of Colombo, on September 1, 2024. The event was held with the participation of the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne; Dean of the Faculty of Science, Senior Professor (Chair) Upul Sonnadara; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Vidya-Jothi Vajira H.W. Dissanayake; the Registrar, Mrs. K.C.S. Perera; the Director of the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Prof. I.M.K. Fernando; and members of the academic, administrative, and non-academic staff.

During the award ceremony, two (02) advanced diplomas and four (04) diplomas were conferred. At the convocation ceremony, one-hundred-one (101) Bachelor's degrees were awarded, including six (06) First Class Honours, nineteen (19) Second Upper Divisions, and twenty-five (25) Second Lower Divisions.

Medals/ Awards

Gold Medals for the Best Student were awarded to Mr. W.L.T. Lowe for the BSc (External) in Financial Engineering and to Mr. K.P.H.D. Tharuka for the BSc (External) in Electronics and Automation Technologies.
