With the vibrant learning and research ecosystem in Immunology and Molecular Biology that exists within the Department of Zoology and Environment Sciences, the Center for Immunology and Molecular Biology (CIMB) was established under the purview of the department in 2021, for the future development of these two areas as a unifying thrust area of the department.
The CIMB aims to function as a center of excellence committed to:
- Provide a teaching and learning hub that would contribute towards capacity building in the fields of Immunology and Molecular Biology
- Engage in and facilitate research, development and innovation in Immunology and Molecular Biology with local and global collaborations.
- Disseminate knowledge in the fields of Immunology and Molecular Biology.
- Provide consultancy and services to relevant institutions of the public and private sectors, in the fields of Immunology and Molecular Biology.
Through activities of the CIMB we intend to:
- Produce High Quality Personnel (HQPs) in Immunology and Molecular Biology through a postgraduate diploma/ Master’s/ master’s in science degree programme in Integrative Immunology & Molecular Biology, enabling gainful employment of them in relevant sectors, both locally and globally, and preparing them for further postgraduate training (MPhil,PhD).
- Train technical staff in Immunology and Molecular Biology through diploma courses, advance certificate courses etc. for effective employment.
- Establish research collaborations locally & internationally to conduct high quality inter-disciplinary research in Immunology and Molecular Biology.
- Foster public-private partnerships to stimulate innovations in Immunology & Molecular Biology.
- provide services with trained expertise and facilities available in Immunology and Molecular Biology.
- Bridge the gap between academia and industry through consultancy work in the fields of Immunology and Molecular Biology.
